I. The Benchmark That Humbles Machines

François Chollet
ARC-AGI-3 is out now! We've designed the benchmark to evaluate agentic intelligence via interactive reasoning environments. Beating ARC-AGI-3 will be achieved when an AI system matches or exceeds human-level action efficiency on all environments, upon seeing them for the first time.

Frontier models score under 1%. Humans achieve 100%. The gap isn't narrowing — it's being redefined. ARC-AGI-3 moves the test from static pattern matching to interactive reasoning environments, making the benchmark about agency, not just prediction.

Introducing TurboQuant: Our new compression algorithm that reduces LLM key-value cache memory by at least 6x and delivers up to 8x speedup, all with zero accuracy loss.

The discourse around TurboQuant is framing it as a potential GPU demand disruptor — if you can run the same models with 6x less memory, the hardware arms race changes shape entirely. "Google might've popped the AI bubble" is the hot take circulating.

II. Design's Identity Crisis

Figma canvas generation vs MagicPath same prompt. By the time I sent one request to Figma, I had two views and 3 variations of my designs in MagicPath, fully interactive. After 7 mins of waiting for something, I gave up. This is an embarrassing release. Video is 2x speed.

I'll say the thing no one is saying: design culture is broken in lots of companies. Often design teams & designers are the most resistant to change org in the EPD triad, with highly vocal AI opponents, and little skill or interest in the art of campaigning for influence.

Concept for Jigsaw 👀 Built a custom Claude tool that generates Gaussian splats we use across whole brand, IMO the best use case for AI in design rn.
Niche but signal: designers building custom AI pipelines for brand assets, not just prompting generic tools
The split in design discourse is visible today: Schirano and claire vo are documenting the crisis (slow tools, cultural resistance), while Gadziński and Linear are building through it. The Lenny data — design hiring flatlined since ChatGPT while PM and eng grew — is the elephant in the room.

Make your own App Store. AI coding agents can now deliver one-shot custom apps straight to your phone. It's the beginning of the end for the iPhone's dominance.

There is no successor to the smartphone. It's the terminal form factor. Much like the car is the terminal form factor for human transportation. Tesla has improved 1000x over the Model T but you still have the same cab riding on four wheels, because it's the optimal solution.

Naval's "make your own App Store" vs Springwater's "smartphone is the terminal form factor" is the day's sharpest dialectic. Both responding to Brett Adcock launching Hark — a personal AI hardware lab that's been in stealth for 8 months. The question isn't whether the interface changes but whether the distribution changes.
